Maharero Royal Authority is located in Otjinene, 157 kilometres from Gobabis. This Royal Authority was founded in 1900, but its history dates back to the period when the Herero people, then known as the Bandwa, trekked from the land of Reeds to present-day Namibia.

Mutjise, the son of Mbunga, led this Royal House to the centre of Namibia.
